Troy Song fired a 3-under during the second round of today's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout to find himself even after day one of the Cal State East Bay tournament, played at Corica Park.
Song's effort puts him in a 5-way tie for 30th place as Cal State Dominguez Hills sits 17th of 18 teams in the field.
As a team, Cal State San Marcos leads the way after a two-round total of 10-under, with host and No. 19 CSUEB one stroke behind after an even day of competition (-5 and -4).
After shooting a 3-over par in the early round, Song found his groove and improved his second round by six strokes (75, 69).
Zachary Iwashita finished tied for 63rd (75, 76), with
Ethan Hong (77, 76) and
Sam Song (77, 76) tying for 88th, and Mahamed ibrahim rounding out the Toro quintet (T99th, 74, 83).
The third and final round will commence tomorrow morning.
