Athletics Compliance/Eligibility Questions
NOTE: The NCAA is working through questions being submitted across the nation. Not all of the questions can be addressed now as we are still battling the COVID-19 outbreak. Here's what we know as of March 25. As these questions are answered, we will share them with you.

Q. What activities are prohibited at this time?
Both the NCAA and CCAA have stated that countable athletically-related activities (CARA) are not allowed during this time. There are two parts to understanding what CARA is types of activities and who is in charge of those activities:
A1. What are some examples of countable athletically-related activities?
• Competition
• Practice
• Weights
• Conditioning
• Meetings
• Film Study

A2. So you are saying I can't lift weights or do anything listed above?
• For something to fall under CARA, it depends on who is directing these activities. CARA is an activity that your coach is involved in doing (including strength and conditioning coaches). Therefore, if your coach is asking, directing or requiring you to do activities related to your sport, this is CARA.
• You can't be required to report back what you did, be rewarded for what you have done, or have consequences for not doing an activity.
• You are not permitted to compete as an individual or on any type of team during this time.

Q. What activities are allowed?
A. Athletic activities you choose to do on your own are permitted (called voluntary activities), just as long as your coach isn't involved as outlined in the steps above.
Some examples are: running, home workout with weights, throwing/kicking/shooting by yourself. (If you are in an open area while doing activity, please maintain safe social distancing)

Q. Will I be granted another season of competition?
A. This applies to spring sports only, which in Dominguez Hills' case, applies to the sport of baseball, softball, track & field and golf. In order to be granted another season of competition to play in a spring sport, all of the following criteria must be met:
• You used a season of competition in the 2019-20 year (competed in a scrimmage, exhibition or regular competition)
• You were eligible to compete during the Spring 2020 semester
• Your season was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak

Q. What if I was in my 10th semester for the Spring 2020 semester and now my season has been canceled?
A. You may be eligible for an extension waiver (to compete beyond your 10th semester), provided the following criteria must be met:
• You were eligible for competition during the Spring 2020 semester/season
• You would have completed eligibility in the Spring 2020 semester
• Your season was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak
