Troy Song fired a 4-under over the first two rounds of today's Fujikura Invitational to finish tied for 2nd place, leading Cal State Dominguez Hills to 1st place after day one at the Cal State San Marcos-hosted tournament at Shadowridge Country Club. Junior
Aaron Sanchez (pictured) followed with a 1-under to finish in an 8-way tie for 6th place.
CSUDH ended the first round 5-over par, but rallied with a -7 in the second round to move into 1st place overall.
Song did his part by improving his second round score by three strokes to move up eight places. Sanchez, meanwhile, went from a 2-over in round one to 3-under in round two, moving from 31st to 6th heading into tomorrow's final round.
CSUDH sits three strokes ahead of 2nd place Cal State San Bernardino and five strokes ahead of both No. 35 Chico State and No. 14 Western Washington, with Song within just two strokes of individual leader Liam Weaver from Cal State San Marcos.
Ethan Hong and
Zachary Iwashita sit tied for 29th at 3-over, with
Robert Scribner tied for 49th at 6-over, playing as an individual.
The 3rd and final round begins at 8:30 am tomorrow.
