VISTA, Calif. -- After entering today's final round of the Fujikura Invitational atop the team leader board, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's golf team ran into trouble this morning, shooting a collective 13-over par to finish in 5th place as the Cal State San Marcos tournament came to a close.
Freshman phenom
Troy Song shot a +7 on the day to drop into a 4-way tie for 18th place overall finishing at +3 over the two days.
No. 14 Western Washington posted the best team score, firing a 3-under to claim the team title, finishing even over the three rounds and three strokes ahead of the host Cougars, who improved 11 shots overall from the first to third rounds.
CSUDH finished today's round 15 shots over par, trailing Chico State by five strokes and Cal State San Bernardino by seven.
Aaron Sanchez shot a 5-over today to finish at 4-over for the tournament, tying him for 22nd place.Â
Ethan Hong tied for 38th after posting a 4-over score, with
Zachary Iwashita tying for 48th, firing a +7.
Rounding out the Toros were
Robert Scribner, who tied for 56th with his 9-over today while playing as an individual, and
Kobe Trujillo, who shot a 71 in today's round, good for the best round for the Cardinal and Gold today.
CSUDH next competes at the Visit Stockton Invitational, taking place from February 23-24 in Stockton.
