Alfaro Tabbed Division II CCA All-America Second Team

ROHNERT PARK -- Less than 24 hours after earning National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) first-team All-America status, Cal State Dominguez Hills senior defender and captain Tony Alfaro was named second-team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Wednesday.

Alfaro had started all but the opener this season. He played a team-most 1,954 minutes on the pitch and posted a 0.90 team goals-against average in those 21 matches he appeared in. He was also a contributor to the offense as he scored six goals, five of which were penalty kicks, and added an assist. His 13 points were fifth best on the team.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the D2CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the 10th year of the CAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America and All-Region teams. A total of 52 student-athletes filled out the three teams and honorable mention selections.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.

CSUDH finished 2015 with a 15-3-4 overall record and 9-1-2 in CCAA play. Along with a conference regular-season championship, the Toros had reached the third round of the NCAA Championship, having lost to eventual national runner-up Cal Poly Pomona in Texas.
