SEASIDE -- Host Cal State Monterey Bay broke a second half scoreless tie with a pair of goals in 0:41 to take a 2-0 decision over Cal State Dominguez Hills, stopping the Toros' three-match win streak.
Jose Peredia (pictured) tied for team-best honors with six shots on goal, including one on frame in the loss.
The two teams played a scoreless first half, with the Otters enjoying a slim 8 to 6 advantage on shots. The match remained scoreless 30 minutes into the second half when CSUMB's offense went into overdrive.
The Otters broke the deadlock with a score at 72:58, and after Peredia's shot was saved by the hosts on CSUDH's ensuing possession, CSUMB countered and found the back of the net again at 73:39, giving the hosts a 2-nil lead.
CSUDH took six more shots over the final 15 minutes of action, but neither of the two shots on frame got the best of Otter Jerry Godfryd, who came away with a clean sheet.
CSUMBÂ finished the match with a 16 to 15 edge in shots, with the Toros taking five shots on goal compared to four for the Otters.
The Toros continue their road trip on Friday, October 9, traveling to Cal Poly Pomona for a 7 pm first touch.
