STOCKTON, Calif. -- Cal State Dominguez Hills true freshman
Troy Song lowered his score in the third and final round by one stroke at the NCAA D2 West/South Central Regional to finish at 5-over for the day. Song's showing places him in 99th place out of 122 golfers competing at The Reserve at Spanos Park in his first experience in an NCAA regional.
After two bogeys on the first three holes, Song put together a string of seven-consecutive pars to keep him at +2 on the day, until four-straight bogeys raised his score to +6. Again finding his stroke, however, the Temecula native came back with a birdie on 16 and pars on the final two holes to give him a 77 on the day, matching his day-one effort.
For the tournament, Song fired a 232 (77-78-77) over the three days.
Western Washington's Conrad Brown took home medalist honors with a 10-under 216, one stroke ahead of Cal State San Marcos' Liam Weaver and Colorado Christian's Bradley Mulder.
