Toro Profile: Kaden Bradley

Kaden Bradley, a forward on the Cali State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team, transferred from Cañada College in Fall of 2019. In his first season as a Toro he started 24 of 29 games and averaged 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. "Kaden is an absolute stud," said head coach Steve Becker. "He's an unbelievable person, who is exceptionally young for his class; his best basketball is ahead of him. In his first year, he showed ability to lead and be extremely versatile. His teammates also love him. He is someone we are going to rely on as a leader. He takes pride in putting on a Toro uniform and has a bright future ahead of him."

Q: You are a transfer from Cañada College. What are the differences between junior college and Division II basketball? Did anything surprise you?
Bradley: At first it was a lot of pressure; new conference, new coaches and new teammates were nerve-racking in the beginning. I played a very fun role on last year's team and that was bringing the energy to the game. Getting my teammates hyped was the best part. Size was the biggest change. Playing at a junior college you don't see too many 7-footers, then coming to Dominguez Hills we were playing 7-footers every other night. Also, we didn't do a lot of traveling at Cañada College, just played local teams. Coming to Dominguez Hills and traveling on planes with the team created many great memories.

Q: What was it like moving to Southern California? Are there any noticeable differences from your home of Northern California?
Bradley: Moving to Southern California was a dope transition. All the different food spots were dangerous because I was eating at new restaurants everyday. I come from a very small town where traffic doesn't exist, and I learned right away that driving in L.A was a pain. Lastly, the weather was amazing. It never gets too cold, even in the December and January my teammates and I were going to beaches.

Q: What part of your game do you think has improved the most since coming to Cal State Dominguez Hills?
Bradley: Coming to Dominguez Hills, I wasn't the best shooter, and still not. I remember on my visit, the coaching staff telling me how my 3-point shot was going to improve. At my position you needed to be able to knock down open 3s, and I feel that was a skill I improved on.

Q: Who are your favorite NBA players? Is there anybody you model your game after?
Bradley: My favorite NBA player is LeBron James. I definitely idolize him because he can easily score at every positron, but he likes to get his teammates involved. I'd rather have everyone eat, rather than just one guy.

Q: On your bio, you state that your favorite food is steak. What is your favorite cut? And how do you like it cooked? What restaurant cooks the best steak? What side dishes do you prefer?
Bradley: Boneless rib-eye is my favorite steak. A lot of people think the fat on the steak is nasty , but that is my favorite part. The only way to eat a steak is medium rare and the best side dish with a steak is scallop potatoes, but if I'm feeling good then lobster mac n' cheese.

Q: You are majoring in public relations. Is there anything you see yourself doing in the future?
Bradley: I don't know exactly what I want to do yet, but I know I want to help others, in either the basketball or fitness-related field.

Q: Are there any favorite CCAA gyms that you like to play at? Why?
Bradley: My favorite gym to play at is the Torodome, 100 percent. There's nothing like playing in front of your family and friends.
