Toros on Wrong End of 2-0 Decision Against CS San Marcos

Kristen Osuna tallied one of the two Toro shots on goal in today's loss to CSUSM
Box Score

CARSON -- Visiting Cal State San Marcos scored an early goal in each half, and that was enough as the Cougars blanked Cal State Dominguez Hills by a 2-0 count to keep the Toros winless to begin 2014.

CSUDH dips to 0-2 to begin the new year.

The Cougars got on the board early as a free kick from Brianne Searl 40 yards out found Amy Young at the goal mouth, with Young's header just eluding a leaping Corney Coyle, who got the start in goal for the Cardinal and Gold.

That's where the score remained at the half until the 58th minute when CSUMB doubled its edge as a long through ball by Paulina Good found Sarah Campbell, who one-touched it past Jennifer Ackerly for a 2-nil lead.

CSUDH managed three shots after the break, but CSUSM keeper Amanda Sears saved the lone one headed towards the net as the Toros suffered their second-consecutive 2-0 loss.

Four Toros notched a shot each in the loss.

The Toros will continue their non-conference homestand on Friday, hosting Regis University for a 7 pm first kick at Toro Stadium.
