Patterson Helps Toros Close Out 2013 With Win at Cal Poly Pomona

Box Score

POMONA -- Senior Olivia Patterson helped the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team end its 2013 season on a high as her unassisted score in the 74th minute pushed the Toros to a 1-0 win over host Cal Poly Pomona in the final game of the year for both teams.

With the victory, CSUDH ends the season at 6-9-3, 5-8-3, tallying one more win in both its overall and CCAA ledgers.

The hosts had the more aggressive play in the opening stanza, taking a 12-6 shot advantage over the Cardinal and Gold as the two keepers combined for 7 total saves as the teams entered the half scoreless.

CSUDH picked up its offense in the second half, equaling the amount of shots CPP took at seven apiece.

Celebrating her own Senior Day two weeks ago before a loss against cross-town rival Cal State L.A., Patterson ruined CPP's Senior Day in the 74th minute after stealing the ball outside the 18 yard box, and sending her shot to the upper left corner of the net past Bronco keeper Sarah Rohman.

That was all CSUDH's defense needed as CPP was only able to take one more shot on frame, with Jennifer Ackerly making the save to preserve the win.

Today marked the final game for seven seniors, including four-year seniors Kayley Evans and Natalie Barbosa.

Next year, CSUDH looks to return 25 players looking to help the Toros back to CCAA and NCAA postseason play.
