Toros Drop to No. 6 in Latest NCAA Region Poll

Senior Trey Mitchell has been one of the keys to CSUDH's success this year
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A 3-1 loss to No. 24 and 2nd-seeded Chico State last Friday proved detrimental enough to drop the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team a spot to No. 6 in the latest NCAA region poll, with the top six teams qualifying for NCAA postseason with just two games left in the regular season.

The Toros now face what could be considered a "win-or-go-home" match at cross-town rival Cal State L.A. on Friday to keep their hopes of earning an NCAA berth alive after already being eliminated from CCAA Championship Tournament contention last weekend.

The top four regional spots remained unchanged from last week as Cal State L.A. stayed at No. 1, followed by Chico State, UC San Diego and Simon Fraser, with Seattle Pacific moving ahead of the Toros after following them the week before.

Nationally, the Golden Eagles moved to No. 11 in the NSCAA poll, with UCSD at No. 17 and the Wildcats at No. 22 this week.

Cal State Monterey Bay sits as the No. 7 seed with Cal Baptist at No. 8, looking to sneak into the top 6 with just one more poll being announced before the NCAA tournament field is revealed on Sunday, November 10, at a time to be announced.

The top six teams qualify for the NCAA postseason, with three more polls to be announced prior to the first round of regional competition, which begins November 14 at two sub-regional sites to be determined.

The Toros, currently at 9-4-3, 7-4-3 CCAA, took a 2-0 loss against Cal State L.A. on October 20 in Carson.
