Toros Shock No. 5 Seawolves in 1-0 Thriller

Box Score
CARSON -- Junior Olivia Patterson finished a perfect Claudia Toledo cross inside visiting and 5th-ranked Sonoma State's box with a sliding one-touch at 31:46, giving Cal State Dominguez Hills an emotional and thrilling 1-0 win over the Seawolves in the Home Depot Center's Main Stadium.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 4-9-2, 3-9-1 CCAA, while SSU falls to 12-2-1, 9-2-1 CCAA.

Entering the week as the top ranked team in the region, the Seawolves played like it, tallying an 11-5 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes of play and forcing Toro keeper Tiffany Hollis to make 4 saves.

But it was the Toros, who took 5 shots in the first period, who earned the game's first score after Patterson collected Toledo's cross and finished past SSU keeper Alexis Sciacqua.

After the break, the Seawolves continued their aggressive offense to the tune of an 8-1 shot advantage, but Hollis and the CSUDH defense were up to the challenge with 3 saves after intermission.

SSU finished with a 19-6 shot advantage and 5-1 edge in corners, with Sciacqua needing to make just 1 save on the afternoon, but CSUDH won the battle where it counted in the 1-0 win.

CSUDH concludes its regular season home schedule on Sunday as it hosts Humboldt State, with first kick set for 12:30 pm in Toro Stadium.
