No. 9 Toros Register Third-Straight Shutout in 2-0 Win at CS East Bay 2-0

Box Score
HAYWARD -- Two first half goals 12 minutes apart were more than enough as No. 9 ranked and defending NCAA West Region Champion Cal State Dominguez Hills took a 2-0 win at Cal State East Bay to open CCAA Conference play.  Senior keeper Alyssa Congdon notched her third-consecutive shutout as CSUDH improved to 3-0, 1-0 CCAA to begin the season.

The game was scoreless until the 19th minute when a Yadira Gomez lob from 18 yards out somehow found its way over East Bay keeper Nina Cefalo and into the left corner of the net for a 1-0 Toro lead.

The advantage doubled when Gomez's sophomore counterpart Lexi Ford volleyed a header from Paige Peel into the corner of the host's net, giving the Toros a 2-0 lead.

That was plenty for Congdon and the Toro defense, despite CSUEB garnering 7 shots in the second half, 4 more than its first half production.

The Toros look to face a stiffer challenge on Sunday as they travel to La Jolla to battle No. 6 UC San Diego, which suffered a 3-1 decision to Cal State L.A. earlier this evening.
