Moreno's Volley Propels Toros to Third Straight CCAA Win in 1-0 Decision Over Cal Poly Pomona

Carson, CA -- Junior Natalie Moreno was at the right place at the right time, rebounding a shot off the post on the fly and heading in the game-winner just minutes into the second half to give the Toros their third-straight CCAA victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Cal Poly Pomona. With the win, CSUDH improves to 6-5, 4-2 CCAA.

Both offenses came out flat in the first half, combining for just 8 shots. What was a slow first period, however, quickly became fast-paced as the teams attempted 23 shots in the game's last 45 minutes.

Toro keeper Alyssa Congdon again was stellar in goal with 5 saves on the day, blanking her second-consecutive opponent in CSUDH's second-consecutive 1-0 win.

Her Bronco counterpart, Nakisha Gutierrez, was nearly as solid, making 6 saves while allowing just one goal in net.

In addition to out-shooting CPP 18-13, the Toros tallied a 5-4 edge in corner kicks in winning their third-consecutive CCAA contest after dropping the previous two.

CSUDH continues CCAA action as Humboldt State and 7th-ranked Sonoma State make their every-other-year visits to Carson on October 3 and 5, respectively.
