San Francisco, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills out-shot host San Francisco State 16-7 and tallied 9 corners to the Gators' 2, but SFSU won the category that counted most by putting up a single goal in each half to hand the Toros to a 2-0 defeat Sunday afternoon. Yvonne Vasquez tallied 4 shots in the loss as CSUDH fell to 3-4, 1-1 CCAA.
The game was scoreless until the 25:54 mark, when SFSU's Myriah Johnson connected on a cross from Zoila Marquez to give the Gators a 1-0 lead. It remained 1-0 until the 65th minute, when Johnson again was the beneficiary of a cross, this time from Courtney Hamchuk, to give SF State a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Gator keeper Rachel Lauderdale recorded four saves en route to her third shutout of
the season in goal while Alyssa Congdon had two saves in goal for the Toros (3-4, 1-1 CCAA).
The Toros' CCAA doesn't get any easier as CSUDH travels to 3rd-ranked UC San Diego on Wednesday, for a 4:30 pm first kick in La Jolla.
