Toros Blank Cal State Monterey Bay 3-0 in CCAA Opener

Seaside, CA --- Cal State Dominguez Hills dominated the field in every aspect as they defeated the Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay 3-0 in the opening game of CCAA competition. Kelly Matosian, Yvonne Vasquez and Natalie Moreno all scored for the Toros to help gain an easy victory.

At only 14:02 into the first half, Matosian first put CSUDH on the board as she received a well placed pass from Kristen Boskovich through MaKensie Pedrotti. As she game into the box to take her shot, Otter keeper Graciela Holgun came out in an attempt to slide tackle which left a wide open net for Matosian's easy goal.

Taking 8 more shots in the second half as they looked to increase their lead, the Toros were once again put on the board due after a cross-pass corner kick from Melanie DeSalvo at 70 minutes into the game. Jessica Murphy collected the kick and placed a routine pass to Moreno for a one-touch goal.

At less than four minutes left in the game, Vasquez solidified the win as she dribbled down the field, making no hesitation to be stopped by the Otter defenders as she aced the third and final score for the Toros.

CSUDH was led in shooting by Vasquez who took 5 shots, 4 of them on goal. Alyssa Congdon put down CSUMB's shots 7 times to keep them scoreless.

The Toros (3-3, 1-0 CCAA) continue CCAA action as they travel to San Francisco State on Sunday, September 14. First kick is at 2:00 pm.
