INDIANAPOLIS -- With nine-straight wins under its belt entering the final weekend of the regular season, Cal State Dominguez Hills sits at No. 4 in the first ranked NCAA West Region poll of the year as of games played through April 26, it was announced by the NCAA.

Four California Collegiate Athletic Association teams were included in the poll, with the top eight advancing to the double-elimination West Region tournament, slated from May 14-16, at a location to be determined.

The list includes top-seeded Cal State San Marcos, No. 2 seed Cal State East Bay, No. 3 seed Concordia University Irvine, the Toros, No. 5 seed Cal State Monterey Bay, No. 6 seed Biola, No. 7 seed Hawaii Hilo, and No. 8 seed Western Washington, with No. 9 seed Northwest Nazarene and No. 10 seed Jessup looking to crack the top eight over the next two weekends of play.

Individually, the Toros are in the top 10 in many CCAA categories: Batting average - Torie Au (7th); SLG - Au (9th); OB% - Savanna Kastigar (4th) OPS - Kastigar (8th); Runs - Makayla Bishop (3rd), Ashley Goodale (5th), Marisa Dominguez (7th); Hits - Goodale (2nd), Dominguez (3rd), Bishop (4th), Au (7th); RBI - Au (3rd), Mireya Rico (7th), Dominguez (10th); Doubles - Rico (4th), Au (5th) Dominguez (7th); Triples - Bishop (3rd), Goodale (6th); Home Runs - Au (8th); At-bats - Bishop (1st), Dominguez (2nd), Goodale (3rd), Rico (9th); Walks - Kastigar (4th), Bishop (7th); Stolen Bases - Goodale (5th), Bishop (10th).

CSUDH's pitching staff also sits in the top 10 in many league categories: ERA - Nadia Juarez (4th), Ashley Ogata (6th); Opposing BA - Ogata (4th), Audrey Gallegos (10th); Innings pitched - Ogata (5th), Gallegos (6th); Strikeouts - Ogata (6th), Gallegos (8th); Strikeouts looking - Gallegos (4th); Wins - Ogata (3rd), Juarez (10), Gallegos (10).

The Toros concluded their regular season last weekend and have this weekend to prepare for the CCAA Championships, scheduled for May 6-9 in Hayward, hosted by Cal State East Bay.

Along with Cal State San Marcos and Cal State East Bay, CSUDH has clinched a berth in the CCAA postseason and currently sits fourth in the CCAA standings at 17-15, percentage points behind Cal Poly Humboldt (14-12), which travels to Stanislaus State this weekend to conclude the regular season. 

If the Lumberjacks win at least two games, the Toros will stay the No. 4 seed and, with the newly modified five-team tournament, will take on the to-be-determined No. 5 seed in a single elimination game on Wednesday, May 6, to kick off the postseason.

The remaining teams will then be reseeded for a double-elimination tournament (Thursday-Saturday). The tournament champion will receive the CCAA's automatic berth for the NCAA tournament.
