Pitching Nearly Perfect as Toros Blank Stan State Twice to Open Final CCAA Series of Year

CARSON -- Senior Ashley Ogata (pictured) fanned six Stanislaus State batters with just two hits allowed as Cal State Dominguez Hills rode Ogata's masterclass en route to a 6-0 win over the visiting Warriors to kick off today's twinbill before Audrey Gallegos scattered five hits in a 3-0 shutout to sweep the Warriors.

Torie Au led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort that include a pair of runs batted in while Savanna Kastigar went deep as part of two hits in opener, with Andrea Tellez going deep in the nightcap to give CSUDH its sixth- and seventh-straight wins and improve to 33-20 overall and 15-15 in the CCAA.

Marisa Dominguez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning before Kastigar's blast put CSUDH up 2-0.  That's where the score remained until the sixth inning when the Toros scored four runs, aided by one of three Warrior errors, an Ashley Goodale RBI single up the middle and a 2RBI single by Au.

That was plenty for Ogata who retired the side in order thrice and the final eight batters in a row she faced to improve to 14-4 on the year.

Kastigar and Dyoni Garcia added two hits each in the shutout.

CSUDH wasted little time getting on the board in the nightcap as Au drove in Makayla Bishop in the first, followed by Tellez's blast one inning later.

Pinch-hitter Michaela Meza completed the scoring four innings later with an RBI single, proving Gallegos plenty of runs in her complete-game win, retiring the final four batters faced.

Eight Toros earned a hit as CSUDH remained in third place in the CCAA standings.

The Toros conclude their regular season tomorrow morning at 11 am after honoring their seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
