CHICO – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros finished day one of the 72-par Chico Invitational in fifth place with a team score of 575, with players
Andy Garcia and
Joseph Sotelo emerging as standout performers for the team.
Both Garcia and Sotelo ended with an identical score of 143 at one-under-par, tying for 15th place individually. Garcia delivered a remarkable performance, shooting a 70 in the first round followed by a 73 in the second. Sotelo was equally resilient, registering scores of 72 and 71 respectively, exemplifying the duo's steadiness on the course.
Jonah Camarillo finished with a total score of 145 (+1), securing a tie for 25th place. Following closely was
Francis Bautista, who showcased a remarkable improvement in the second round, shooting a three-under-par 69 after a first-round 77, finishing tied for 30th at two-over-par.
Aaron Sanchez and
Logan Miyamoto both concluded their performances with a score of 154 (+10), tied at 68th place. Miyamoto made a commendable recovery in the second round, improving his score by six strokes. Meanwhile,
Harley Yang ended the tournament tied for 83rd place, recording a score of 164 (+20).
The Toros close the Chico State Invitational tomorrow as they tee off for round three at 9am.
