Sofia Litendahl scored the first goal of the season in the 81
st minute but the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team ran out of time in a 3-1 campaign-opening loss to Azusa Pacific at a humid Toro Stadium Thursday evening.
The Cougars got the first goal in the 40
th minute, the second one 36 seconds into the second half and the third was in the 50
th.
The junior Litendahl got the Toros on the board via penalty kick.
Along with the three goals, Azusa Pacific edged Dominguez Hills in shots, 10-7, but the Toros did outshoot the Cougars 5-3 in the second period.
Dominguez Hills will hop on a plane and travel to Salt Lake City for a neutral-site matchup against Montana State Billings on the campus of Westminster College. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.
