CARSON – Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball coach
Steve Becker has announced three new additions for the 2017-18 season.
Joining the Toros in the fall are Jordan Bell, a 6-foot-8 sophomore forward transferring from Northwestern State; Xavier Hallinan, a 6-foot-1 junior guard coming from the University of Portland; and Colten Kresl, a 6-foot-1 guard who has signed a National Letter of Intent after playing at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The three newcomers, along with early signees Deshay Gipson and Matt Hayes, complete a 2017-18 Toro ballclub that had lost two key players to graduation.
"We are excited about the additions of Xavier, Jordan and Colten to our basketball family," Becker said. "Each of them have done a great job in the classroom, thus far, in their academic careers and will bring different strengths to our program.
"These three, along with Matt and Deshay, round out a great group of young men for our 2017 recruiting class, who are all eager to accomplish special feats as Toros."

Jordan Bell – 6-8, 225, So., Inglewood/Northwestern State University
Bell returns home to Southern California after playing his freshman season with the NCAA Division I Demons based in Natchitoches, Louisiana. In 26 games off the bench, he averaged 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He set a personal best in January against Southeastern Louisiana, going 7-for-13 including two 3-pointers for 18 points along with grabbing a dozen rebounds.
Prior to Northwestern State, Bell was a Bay League Most Outstanding Player at Inglewood High. He averaged 20 points, 13 boards and three blocks per game during his senior campaign. Bell was selected first-team All-Area, second-team All-State and second-team All-CIF Open Division throughout his prep career.
"We are thrilled to welcome Jordan back home as a member of our 2017 recruiting class," Becker said. "Jordan is a local standout, who starred at Inglewood High School, and is going to be a fan favorite in a Toro uniform for the next three years.
"Jordan's combination of size and offensive versatility will allow him to be a mismatch problem for opponents," Becker added. "His ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, while taking advantage of slower defenders off the bounce and rebounding at a high level, will allow him to impact the winning process right away."

Xavier Hallinan – 6-1, 165, Jr., Portland, OR/University of Portland
Hallinan comes to the Los Angeles area after playing for Division I Portland the last two seasons. He's started six of his 19 appearances as a Pilot. He averaged 7.8 points, 1.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds in nine games played his sophomore season. He had a career day at BYU last February, going 6-for-11, three of which were 3-point range, for 17 points in 33 minutes played.
Hallinan was a two-sport prep standout in basketball and football at Central Catholic High School, twice earning All-Mt. Hood Conference honors. He was second team as a junior and first team as a senior.
"We couldn't be happier to welcome Xavier and his family to Southern California," Becker said. "He has an extremely high basketball IQ who can score in a variety of ways and is a selfless young man. He has proven himself on big stages and is someone we have high hopes for.
"Xavier has done a great job academically thus far at Portland and we expect him to continue to thrive in that area, while helping raise our basketball program to new heights," Becker added.

Colten Kresl – 6-1, 185, Incoming Freshman, Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral High School
Kresl comes to California after averaging 20 points, 3.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals his senior season at Chaparral High. Among accolades, he was selected first-team 5A All-State, first team all-region, offensive player of the year and all-city. He closed out his prep career as the Firebirds' all-time leading scorer with 1,427 career points.
"Colten has the chance to be a special player in a Toro uniform over the next four years," Becker said. "He has had a tremendous amount of success at Chaparral High and played for one of the top AAU programs (Powerhouse Hoops). His ability to score in a variety of ways, combined with his ability to see the floor and overall toughness, made him someone our staff was immediately drawn to in the recruitment process. We are eager to get to work with Colten."
