WAIKOLOA, Hawaii –
Raynard Belmonte made par with a 72 in the first round and scored one under in the second to cap an impressive first day at the Dennis Rose Invitational at Waikoloa Beach Course Friday.
The Toros, the lone representative from the California Collegiate Athletic Association in this tournament, currently sit fifth out of seven with a combined score of 591.
Belmonte's performance puts him in a tie for fifth in the individual standings. Saint Martin's Trevor Frisby leads the pack with a 136 total. The Saints lead the entire tournament with a 571.
Andrew Banuelos also had a good afternoon, scoring a 1-under 71 in the first round but dropped to 74 in the second. He's in a tie for 11
th individually.
William Yang scored a 79 in the first round but improved to 75 his second trip through the course.
Neil Bhakta and
Miles Young round out the Toros with a 154 and 155, respectively. Bhakta shot a 74 in the first round while Young scored a 75 in the second.
All participants will get one more round in on Saturday.
