SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State Dominguez Hills wrapped up the second and final day of the Cal State San Bernardino-hosted Coyote Classic in 11th and 12th places in team competition, with
Trent Fitzgerald posting the highest finish of the 10 Toro golfers, coming in 34th place.
The host Coyotes took the team title after shooting 21 strokes below par, including a field best 8-under in today's round in which CSUSB was the lone school to shoot under par.
Cal State Monterey Bay posted a runner-up finish, 19 strokes behind the Yotes.
Fitzgerald found the third round more difficult than the first with an 8-over par, finishing with a 224 (71-73-80).Â
Troy Song (pictured) shot six strokes better than his effort in yesterday's late round to move up seven spots to tie for 42nd (78-80-74-227), whileÂ
Aaron Sanchez found today more difficult, coming in tied for 47th with a 228 (77-68-83).
Zachary Iwashita also moved up seven spots to tie for 47th, finishing with a 228 after shooting in the 70s all three rounds (78-76-74).
Mahamed Ibrahim finished tied for 50th (80-72-77-229),
Sam Song tied for 56th (73-78-81-232),
Robert Scribner tied for 66th (77-78-80-235),
Kobe Trujillo tied for 72nd (78-79-80-237),
Dylan Kooner tied for 77th (87-89-80-256) and
Ethan Hong tied for 78th (97-90-80-267) to round out the Toro contingent.
CSUSB's Kamron Hopson took home medalist honors with a 16-under effort over the three rounds, with Colorado Mesa's Henry Star seven strokes back, and Chico State's Naoki Easterday 10 strokes back.
CSUDH enjoys a week's respite before competing at Domincan on Monday, April 6.
