Wildcats Down Toros in 2-0 Decision

CARSON -- Visiting Chico State notched a pair of first half goals, and that was enough as the Wildcats took a 2-nil decision over Cal State Dominguez Hills this afternoon in CCAA action.

Gabrielle Pena led the Toros with 3 shots in the loss that moves the Toros to 0-6-1, 0-1 CCAA.

The Wildcats got on the board early after Lindsey Dias collected a shot that went off a Toro defender, and shuttled her attempt past Toro keeper Michelle Mendez for a 1-0 lead at the 11:18 mark.

CSUC added an insurance score 28 minutes later as Casi Scroggings collected a loose ball deflected off a teammate after a corner kick, and buried her shot for a 2-nil lead.

The Toros would look to mount a comeback after intermission, but Wildcat keeper Brianna Furner was more than up to the challenge, making two saves in the shutout win.

CSUDH will look to earn its first win of the season at CS San Bernardino on Sunday, with first kick set for an 11:30 am start.
