Golden Eagles Cruise to 5-0 Win Over Toros

CARSON -- Visiting Cal State L.A. tallied a commanding 28-13 advantage in shots, scoring early and often in a decisive 5-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on a warm Friday afternoon.

A quintet of Toros tallied two shots each in the loss that kept them winless at 0-9-1, 0-3 CCAA. CSULA, meanwhile, retained its share of the CCAA lead with its third-straight league win.

Norie Pablo was instrumental in the Golden Eagles' fast start on Friday, scoring two of the team's three goals in the opening half. Joane Espinoza also scored in the first half on a 25-yard free kick, while Veronica Steen and Heather Williams added second-half goals to complete the victory.

CSULA keeper Yi Du made five saves for the visitors to record her fifth shutout of the season.

The Golden Eagles had a 17-5 edge in shots in the first half while building their 3-0 lead.

In addition to Eriksson, Naomi Willey, Megan Mahoney, Jessica Parker and Sami Feinstein fired off a pair of shots, while Toro keeper Michelle Mendez recorded seven saves in the loss.

The Toros will look to pick up its first win of the year at No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, with first kick set for 11:30 am.
