Second-Half Flurry Pushes Toros Past #13 CS Stanislaus

Box Score
TURLOCK -- Facing a pair of nationally-ranked northern California foes to kick off CCAA play, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros made a statement with a 3-1 win over host and 13th-ranked CS Stanislaus, scoring all three goals in a span of just over four minutes that included a heady game-winner by senior co-captain Lexi Ford.

After a scoreless first half in which the two teams combined for a total of just 5 shots, both offenses caught fire in the second half, with each rattling off 9 shots against the opposing keeper.

Senior Ani Eishoei broke the scoreless tie at the 73:17 mark after taking a feed from Ford, starting the offensive deluge by the Cardinal and Gold.

Less than three minutes later, Ford took on the role of scorer after intercepting a Warrior throw-in and beating CSUS keeper Millie Brown for a 2-0 lead, with junior Kayley Evans completing the rush with her first goal of the year (and career) after a feed from Olivia Patterson at 77:36.

The Warriors finally got on the board in the 88th minute, but it was too little too late in CSUDH's 3-1 win.

Toro keeper Tiffany Hollis kept the Warriors in check with 4 saves, with Brown matching Hollis' number with 4 saves herself.

CSUDH, now 2-0-1, looks to make it two-straight on Sunday against No. 3 Chico State, which suffered a 4-1 loss to Cal State L.A. earlier tonight.
