Former Toro Amir (Ronnie) Aguilar Signs With Los Angeles Lakers

LOS ANGELES -- Just two seasons removed from helping the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team set five program records en route to an NCAA postseason appearance, 7-footer Amir (Ronnie) Aguilar has signed a professional contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and was invited to training camp, it was announced tonight here.

Aguilar started nine games in 39 played in two years in Carson, averaging 4.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.  As a senior, Aguilar helped the Toros set five records that included a 16-1 start, defeating the No. 1 team in the nation, a No. 4 ranking by the NABC, a 10-game win streak and 23 wins in a single season, before being ushered out of the NCAA postseason by BYU-Hawai'i, whom the Toros bested during the regular season.

Prior, Aguilar played two seasons at Colorado State University after prepping at John Marshall HS in Los Angeles where he was a three-sport athlete.

Most recently, Aguilar played in six games for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League during the 2011-12 season, averaging 2.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 11.5 minutes.
