Slide Continues as CS East Bay Downs Toros in 2-1 Decision

Box Score
CARSON -- A successful penalty kick by Ani Eishoei after a Cal State East Bay handball deep in Pioneer territory ended 372 minutes of play without a goal for the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team, but it was not enough as CSUEB score two unanswered goals to hand the Toros their fifth-consecutive loss.

The Toros move to 2-5-1, 1-5 CCAA, while the Pioneers improve to 3-3-1, 1-3-1 CCAA.

After 10 minutes of play, a Toro attack inadvertently led to a handball by CSUEB off a cross by Briana Behrad, where Eishoei buried her shot past keeper Jamie Botteon.

That's where the score remained until the 31st minute when a Pioneer attacker was pushed down from behind as she raced towards CSUDH keeper Tiffany Hollis.

Looking to take their turn on a PK, Shianna Falk reciprocated by nestling her shot past Hollis' right, who guessed left.

The game remained tied until a beautiful sequence by the Pioneers accounted for the game-winner.  After Shannon Fontes sent a through ball to Eugenie Foote, Foote sent a perfect cross past Hollis and right to Falk, whose one-time header went untouched into the back of the net.

Hollis finished with 5 saves compared to 8 by Botteon, as the Toros took 16 shots compared to 13 for the Pioneers.

It won't get any easier for the Toros as they travel to La Jolla to face perennial power and south division leader UC San Diego to begin arguably the toughest road trip of the year.
