Toros Drop "Hot" 1-0 Decision at CS San Bernardino

Box Score
SAN BERNARDINO -- With the temperature settling on a sizzling 103 degrees at game time, the Cal State San Bernardino women's soccer team netted an early second half goal en route to a 1-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Coyote Premier Field.  Senior keeper Stephanie Bloom earned her first career start, saving 4 shots in the complete-game loss.

With the loss, the Toros fall to 2-2-1, 1-2 CCAA, while the Coyotes remain unbeaten at 4-0-1, 3-0 CCAA after receiving votes in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

The hosts earned more chances in the opening frame, garnering a 7-to-3 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes of scoreless soccer that included Bloom making three of her four saves.

That all changed in the first five minutes of the second half as Katie Gagner collected what would prove the be the game's only goal after settling a cross and punching it to the left post past a diving Bloom at the 50:15 mark.

The Toros became the aggressors after the score by out-shooting the hosts 11-4, but Coyote keeper Priscilla Collings earned the shutout by making 7 saves, including 5 after intermission.

Olivia Patterson took 6 shots to lead the Toros, with a pair of teammates taking 2 shots each.

CSUDH will look to get back into the win column on Sunday in its first home league match of the year, hosting cross-town rival Cal State L.A. for an 11:30 am first kick.
