Toros' Season Ends With Scoreless 2OT Draw at San Francisco State

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team ended its frustrating 2012 season with a double-overtime scoreless draw at San Francisco State this afternoon, finishing the campaign at 5-9-4, 3-9-3 CCAA.

SF State (6-8-3, 4-8-3 CCAA) out-shot the Toros 18-15 including 9-5 in the overtime periods.  The Gators also held an 8-3 corner kick advantage, but Cal State Dominguez Hills recorded more shots goal 8-4.
 
The first half was evenly played as there were just 9 total shot attempts including three on goal.  The first on goal attempt came in the 5th minute as Ani Eishoei's shot was stopped by the Gators' Jones. 
 
Eleven minutes later, Jones stopped Olivia Patterson's attempt from giving the visitors the lead. 
 
SF State's only shot on goal attempt came in the 40th minute, but the attempt was stopped by the Toros' Hollis to send the match into the second half tied at 0-0.

The second half saw just 10 combined shot attempts including three on goal.  The Toros recorded all three on goal attempts including one in the 83rd minute by Niki Poole which was saved by Jones from going into the goal.
 
SF State's had four shot attempts with all of them coming into the first 11 minutes of the second half including Elizet Ceja's that went wide right in the 57th minute. 
 
The Gators came alive in the first ten minute overtime period as Nicole Vanni recorded two shot on goal attempts in the first minute, but Hollis came up big both times.  They had another one that sailed high off the foot of Ceja in the 92nd minute.
 
Once again, Vanni had a chance for the golden goal but this time it hit the crossbar.  Then Lauren Hayano went to put in Vanni's missed shot but Hollis snagged the golden goal attempt.
 
The hosts had three more chances for the game-winner in the final 90 seconds sail high or go wide all off the feet of Vanni and Marham to send the match into the second overtime.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills came out strong this overtime period as Poole's attempt was stopped by Jones in the 101st minute.  Then five minutes later, her attempt sailed wide right. 
 
The Toros had one more chance for the golden goal sail high off the foot of Olivia Patterson in the 108th minute as the match ended in a scoreless tie.
