Tiffany Hollis Named Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week

Tiffany Hollis' efforts this weekend did not go unnoticed as she picked up her first-career CCAA Player of the Week award today
WALNUT CREEK -- Junior keeper Tiffany Hollis has been named the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer player of the week, it was announced by the CCAA office after posting consecutive shutouts against two nationally-ranked teams to open league play.

This is Hollis' first career Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week honor.

Hollis was spectacular in goal as the Toros blanked No. 19 CS San Bernardino on Friday before shutting down No. 11 Cal State L.A. two days later.  The Los Angeles native did not allow a goal in making 9 saves over the weekend.

Hollis' first test came against an undefeated Coyotes team that had outscored its opponents 6-0 entering Friday's contest.  The high-powered offense, however, was muffled as Hollis registered one save, but stopped countless other attacks with her aggressive play.

Two days later, Hollis again was up to the challenge against CSUDH's cross-town rival, which had outscored opponents 5-1 heading into Sunday's contest.  Hollis again was stellar in making 8 saves to register her second-consecutive shutout against a nationally-ranked opponent.

The junior keeper faced 26 total shots and made 9 saves as CSUDH ended the first week of league play unscathed.

The Toros, 4-0, 2-0 CCAA, continue CCAA action at home as Chico State visits Carson this Friday, with first kick set for 4:30 pm.
