WALNUT CREEK -- Cal State Dominguez Hills forward Connor Brandt has been named Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 26 - Oct. 2, it was announced by the CCAA office this afternoon.
This is the first such award of Brandt's college career.
A freshman from Temecula, Brandt paced Cal State Dominguez Hills to a pair of big CCAA wins as the Toros topped San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona to move into a first-place tie in the South Division.
Brandt scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win at San Francisco State on Friday after stealing the ball deep in Gator territory and beating the SFSU keeper in the 20th minute, and concluded the weekend by scoring the golden goal in a 2-1 double-overtime victory at Cal Poly Pomona in which he again stole the ball from a CPP defender at the top of the Bronco box and drilled his shot over the keeper for the win.
The freshman finished with 60% of his attempts on goal.
Cal State Dominguez Hills, now 7-2-1 and 5-2-1 in league play, travels to northern California to take on Humboldt State on Friday, before a duel with arch-rival Sonoma State two days later.
