SEASIDE, Calif. — Top-seeded and ninth-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills battled through 100 minutes but came up short in a 3-2 overtime loss to fifth-seeded Cal State San Marcos on Friday afternoon in the CCAA Tournament semifinal at Cardinale Stadium.
The Toros struck early in the sixth minute when Ramiro Rosas delivered his second goal of the season, finishing a setup from Lucas Galarza to give CSUDH a 1-0 lead. After San Marcos equalized before halftime, the Toros regained control in the 55th minute as Aldair Marta buried a close-range chance off another assist from Galarza to put CSUDH back in front 2-1.
Dominguez Hills continued to generate opportunities, posting 16 shots with five on target, including two on frame from Galarza and another quality chance from Alpha Sowe. Defensively, the Toros back line held strong through long stretches, and goalkeeper Keegan O'Brien recorded four key saves.
San Marcos found a late equalizer in the 73rd minute and converted the golden-goal winner in the 95th to advance.
Rosas and Marta provided the scoring for Dominguez Hills, while Galarza led the team with two assists. David Politron, Diego Barahona, Mateo Vestesen, and Justin Cuevas each recorded shot attempts, contributing to a balanced attacking effort.
Despite the result, the Toros—who finished the regular season unbeaten in CCAA play and entered as the tournament's No. 1 seed—remain positioned for postseason success.
CSUDH (12-3-4) will now shift its attention to the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 17.Â
