POMONA -- Coming off a hard-fought double-overtime draw at No. 14 CS San Bernardino two days ago, it took the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team a half to wake up, but when they did, host Cal Poly Pomona had little chance after the Toros scored the game's final five goals in this afternoon's 5-1 win, led by Taylor Canatsey's two scores.

The game saw little offense in the first 45 minutes of play, until Michelle Nava gave the hosts a 1-0 lead after beating Toro keeper Alyssa Congdon at 35:35.

That proved all the offense the Broncos would muster after taking down Cal State L.A. two days later, as the second half saw a rejuvenated Toro squad take the pitch.

Canatsey equalized just five minutes into the second half collecting a loose ball and heading her shot over Bronco keeper Sarah Rohman.  Exactly 66 seconds later, Canatsey gave CSUDH the lead for good after collecting a Lexi Ford feed and burying her shot past Rohman for a 2-1 edge.

That margin increased to 3-1 after Jessica Murphy scored on a penalty kick to give CSUDH three scores in a 9-minute stretch.

Murphy then played distributor after her corner kick found a waiting Melissa Livergood, who made it 4-1 at 76:11, with Marlene Becerra's corner finding Yadira Gomez 90 seconds later for the Toros' fifth and final score.

The Toros finished with an 18-8 advantage in shots, and a 5-0 edge in corners, while Congdon made 2 saves in the win, compared to 7 for her counterpart.

CSUDH, now 6-1-1, 4-1-1 CCAA, continues its CCAA action on the road next weekend, taking on Chico State on Friday, October 1, for a prime time 7:00 pm first kick.
