CHICO -- A streaking Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team continued its unbeaten ways after taking a late-game 1-0 win at Chico State tonight to improve to 7-1-1, 5-1-1 CCAA, and remain unbeaten over its past five contests.  Junior Jessica Murphy supplied the heroics with the tally in the 83rd minute.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie at the half, combining for just 12 shots in a well-played period.

The Wildcats thought they had the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute when Lisa Webster found the back of the net, but the tally was wiped away by a delayed offsides penalty.

Just 10 minutes later, the Toros broke through as Brooke Thompson found Taylor Canatsey in a space above the penalty box, who in turn found Murphy posted up on top of the box. Canatsey's pass found her feet, and Murphy turned and then slammed a low liner to the right of Wildcats goalkeeper Sydney Oliver for her fifth goal of the season.

CSUC looked as though it might have the equalizer in the 85th minute, but Carly Singer's blast from 30 yards was tipped up and over the crossbar by Toros goalkeeper Alyssa Congdon.

Chico State held a 12-9 advantage in shots (each team had three shots on goal) and 5-2 edge in corners but saw its three-game winning streak end. The Wildcats fell to 5-4-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the CCAA. Cal State Dominguez Hills improved to 7-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the CCAA.

Oliver finished with a pair of nice saves and Congdon tallied three.

CSUDH, now 7-1-1, 5-1-1 CCAA, looks to keep its unbeaten streak alive on Sunday against CS Stanislaus, which suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cal State L.A. this evening at Warrior Field.
