FRESNO -- Cal State Dominguez Hills scored its first goal in five matches, but it wasn't enough as host Fresno Pacific took a 2-1 decision over the Toros in a California Collegiate Athletic Association battle that keeps CSUDH winless in conference play.
Lexie Jimenez tallied the lone score for the visitors, who dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the CCAA.
The hosts scored both their goals in the match's first eight minutes of play, putting the Toros in a 2-0 hole.
Jimenez, however, cut CSUDH's deficit in half in the 25th minute, taking a feed from
Zoe Chang and finding the back of the net for the Toros' first goal in nearly a month.
That would conclude the scoring as both defenses kept the opposing offenses at bay the rest of the match.
The Toros earned a slim 14-13 advantage in shots, but six of FPU's attempts were on goal compared to just three for CSUDH.
Aleena Gutierrez took three shots for the Toros while keeper
Berlin Alcala enjoyed a scoreless 45 minutes between the posts after the break.
CSUDH looks to earn a win on the backend of its road trip on Saturday, battling Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 pm.
