Toros Put Scare Into No. 23 Western Washington Before Falling 3-1

CARSON -- Despite powerhouse play in game one and a winning score of 25-22, the Toros were unable to edge out a win against the No. 23 Vikings of Western Washington University, losing 3-1. Samantha Maxwell was dominant from the floor with 18 kills for a .412 attack percentage.

Grabbing an early lead in game one and amassing an 8-2 edge, the Toros never let up the lead, allowing the Vikings to tie only once. Ashley Clark tallied 18 total kills on the night herself, and ended the game with two kills to give CSUDH a 1-0 lead.

Behind the attacking of Megan Amundson, however, WWU grabbed the wins in games two and three with respective scores of 25-18 and 25-19 to take the lead.

The closest the Toros would get in the fourth was 11-13 before WWU picked up steam and rallied to win, 25-20, and close out the match, 3-1.

Overall, CSUDH managed a .289 attack percentage with 54 total kills and 18 errors. Leading the way were Clark and Maxwell with 18 kills apiece.

From the floor, both teams grabbed 41 digs with Sara Murray once again leading the Toros with 10 on the day. Rebekah Wolfgramm was dominant in her assists with 41 total.

Now with an 0-2 record, the Toros will take to the floor tomorrow in action against the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. First serve is set at 7:00pm.
