"Three" Again Proves No. 24 Toros Downfall in 3-2 (2OT) Loss at No. 8 Seattle Pacific

Box Score
Seattle, WA - The number three again proved to be the Toros downfall as No. 24-ranked CSUDH's spirited comeback attempt fell just short in a 3-2 double-overtime loss at No. 8 Seattle Pacific, just less than 10 months after SPU ushered the Toros out of the 2007 NCAA postseason in a 3-0 Falcon win.  Jessica Murphy paced the Toros with a goal and assist as CSUDH dropped to 1-2 on the year.

SPU's Amanda Johnson bettered Murphy's effort by scoring two goals, including the game-winner with less than two minutes left in the second overtime that lifted Seattle Pacific to a 2-0-1 mark.

Johnson's golden goal turned back a rally that saw the Toros overcome a 2-0
deficit to force overtime. The sophomore forward stopped just outside the
box after a long dribbling run down the center of the field and launched a
20-yard blast into the upper right corner to end the game.  Janae Godoy and
Kelsey Jenkins were credited with assists on the decisive tally.

The Falcons took the early lead on a 35th-minute goal by Johnson and a
52nd-minute strike from Jenkins.

The first Toro goal came at 62:57 on a 25-yard chip over the goalkeeper
by Murphy.  She also set up the equalizer at 72:20, sending a through pass
to Yvonne Vasquez, who placed a 12-yard shot into upper left netting.

SPU goalkeeper Jesslyn Rahm stopped six shots while Alyssa Congdon had eight
saves for the Toros, who were out shot by a 28-15 margin.

The Toros conclude their Washington trip with a contest against St. Martin's on Friday, September 5, scheduled for an 11:30 am first kick.
