La Jolla
, CA – Fourth-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills used goals by Kelly Matosian and Danielle Shoemaker to take a 2-0 win over top-seeded Sonoma State in the first women's semifinal of the CCAA Championship Tournament.  Improving to 13-8, CSUDH faces host UC San Diego on Sunday at 2:00 pm, after the Tritons advanced 5-4 on penalty kicks against San Francisco State.

After playing even to start the contest, which included near misses by Melissa Livergood and Natalie Moreno, senior Matosian broke the scoreless tie at the 41:39 mark as Livergood sent her a touch pass in front of the SSU goal follow a scrum, allowing Matosian to loft her shot over Grixti's head for a 1-0 lead entering intermission.

The Toros made it 2-0 early in the second half as Yvonne Vasquez slipped behind the Seawolf defense and dropped her pass to a waiting Shoemaker, who sent a low line drive near post past Grixti to double CSUDH's advantage.

CSUDH, which took a 6-2 decision in the two teams' regular season meeting in Carson on October 5, continued to put pressure on the Seawolf defense, resulting in a 15 yard screamer by Monique Castro with 10 minutes left in regulation that sailed just high.

The Toros out-shot the Seawolves 18-8, and tallied 3 corners to SSU's 2.  CSUDH keeper Alyssa Congdon notched one save in the win while Seawolf Grixti was credited with three in the loss.

Next up for the Toros is host UC San Diego, who bested the Toros twice during the regular season, 3-2 and 2-1.
