UC San Diego Takes 2-1 Win in Key CCAA Contest

Carson, CA -- Ranked 20th in the nation coming into tonight's showdown against perennial power UC San Diego and having won seven-straight, Cal State Dominguez Hills displayed an offensive tenacity to the tune of a 17-8 shot advantage, but fell 2-1 to the Tritons, who took sole possession of the league's best mark.  With the loss, CSUDH falls to 10-6, 8-3 CCAA.  Karina Jahn notched the Toros' lone goal of the contest.

The visitors got on the board first as Lisa Bradley connected at the 32:42 mark, giving the Tritons a 1-nil lead entering intermission.

After the break, UCSD's Natasha Belak-Berger torched the Toros again as she notched her third goal in two games against CSUDH, giving UCSD a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute.

The Toros got on the scoreboard at 74:25 after a Jessica Murphy corner kick went to Melanie DeSalvo, who tapped it to Jahn for the score.

UCSD keeper Kristin Armstrong out-dueled Toro keeper Alyssa Congdon in the battle of the CCAA South's best teams, while the Tritons out-cornered CSUDH 4-3.

CSUDH continues CCAA home action against Cal State L.A. on Friday, with first kick set for 4:30 pm at Toro Stadium, at the Track and Field Facility at the Home Depot Center.
