Toros Picked 11th in CCAA Coaches Preseason Poll

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Coming off an 11th-place finish in the 2025 California Collegiate Athletic Association season, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were picked to finish 11th in the now 14-school league in a preseason coaches poll, it was announced by the CCAA earlier.

The Toros ended last year with a 5-11-2 overall ledger that included a 2-8-1 record in conference play.

Three-time defending regular-season CCAA champion Cal Poly Pomona, which enters 2026 ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Preseason Poll, was picked as the favorite, earning 10 of the 14 first-place votes as the Broncos look to capture their fourth consecutive conference regular-season championship.  The Broncos collected 188 points to finish 30 points ahead of defending CCAA Tournament champion Cal Poly Humboldt. The Lumberjacks received two first-place votes and 158 points to take the No. 2 spot. Cal State San Bernardino was third with 151 points, followed by Stanislaus State (141) and Chico State (137).

Cal State LA received one first-place vote and finished sixth with 131 points. Cal State San Marcos was seventh with 118 points, while Cal State Monterey Bay collected the final first-place vote and 101 points to place eighth.

Cal State East Bay (92), UC Merced (85) preceded Cal State Dominguez Hills (64), with San Francisco State (41) coming in 12th.  New CCAA members Menlo College and Fresno Pacific tied for13th with 27 points apiece as the conference expands to 14 women's soccer programs for the 2026 season.

The Toros are led by sophomore midfielder Kaylee Leavitt, who paced the Cardinal and Gold with three goals and six points, with all her goals accounting for wins.  Leavitt also was the lone Toro to earn the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week honor after scoring a pair of game-winners in her first two collegiate games of her career.

CSUDH will begin its 2026 campaign at home on August 27, hosting Westmont College at 7 pm.  After three more non-conference matches, the Toros will begin the CCAA schedule on the road at UC Merced on September 18, looking to claim one of now seven spots in the 2026 CCAA Tournament after the league expanded the tournament with the increase to 14 teams.

All CCAA home contests will once again be available live and on-demand through FloCollege at GoCCAA.org/FloCollege.
