ALISA VIEJO, Calif. -- Cal State Dominguez Hills graduate student David Cheatom has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 9-15. This is Cheatom's first CCAA Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second overall.
Cheatom led the Toros to a berth in the CCAA Men's Basketball Tournament by averaging 25.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game in two wins. He shot 59.5 percent from the field (22-of-37), including 3-of-5 on 3-pointers, and went 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He also surpassed 1,000 career points.
He began the week by scoring a then season-best 25 points (11-of-18) in a win over Cal State San Marcos. On Saturday, he would hit the game-winning shot in a 89-88 win over Cal State Monterey Bay as part of a season-best 26 points.
Cal State Dominguez Hills has now had three different student-athletes claim the honor in 2025-26, with Cheatom now averaging 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
