CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball showed flashes of momentum in their first official home game of the season, highlighted by a dominant third quarter, but ultimately fell 90–55 to visiting Westmont on Wednesday night inside the Torodome.
The Toros (0–4) were powered by Tiara Jones, who turned in a standout performance with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and an efficient 5-of-10 shooting from the field while knocking down 8-of-9 free throws. Her activity inside helped spark CSUDH's best stretch of the night as the Toros erupted for 30 third-quarter points, outscoring Westmont 30–19 in the frame.
Leilani Abraham provided a strong boost with 11 points and a perfect 6-for-6 night at the free-throw line. Luvlee Sadler added 8 points and a team-high 5 rebounds, while Anela Thomas chipped in 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Defensively, the Toros forced 10 steals and matched Westmont with 19 assists, showing their ability to generate pressure and move the ball offensively.
Despite a cold first half, CSUDH's response out of the locker room demonstrated the group's resilience and growing chemistry as the young season continues. The Toros return to action later this week as they continue building toward CCAA play.
