SEATTLE, Wash. — Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball put together its strongest performance of the young season Saturday night, going toe-to-toe with Seattle Pacific before falling 64–61 in a tight contest inside Brougham Pavilion.
The Toros (0–2) came out firing, matching the Falcons bucket for bucket in the opening quarter and controlling the second with a 19-point frame to take a 31–18 lead into halftime. CSUDH's defensive pressure and balanced scoring frustrated SPU early, setting the tone for a gritty road effort.
Kylee Edgar delivered another standout performance, posting 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist while steadying the Toros on both ends. Amaya Washington gave CSUDH a major spark with 16 points on efficient shooting, including three triples, while Anela Thomas added six points and battled through heavy defensive attention.
Inside, Tiara Jones powered her way to 7 points and 5 rebounds, and Camryn Washington provided a huge lift off the bench, putting up 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals to lead a second unit that brought energy all night.
The Toros owned the glass with 40 rebounds, including 15 on the offensive end, and forced 20 SPU turnovers, turning defensive pressure into transition opportunities.
Seattle Pacific surged in the second half, using a pair of big quarters to edge ahead late, but the Toros continued to respond and kept the game within one possession until the final minute.
CSUDH leaves Seattle with two competitive outings and positive momentum as it returns home to prepare for its upcoming nonconference slate.
