SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal State Dominguez Hills turned in a disciplined defensive effort on the road Friday afternoon, but a late second-half goal lifted Cal State San Marcos to a narrow 1-0 decision at The Cage.
Goalkeeper Audrey Haman anchored the Toros in net, making a key save and commanding the back line through 90 minutes of play. Defenders Emma Arkus, Laurel Durkin, and Isabella Ramirez held the Cougars to limited chances for most of the match, keeping the score level until the 75th minute.
Offensively, the Toros created steady pressure throughout, led by Coral Turner, who paced the attack with two shots and one on goal. Alexis Delgado, Cynthia Ramirez, and Kaylee Leavitt also registered attempts, testing the San Marcos goalkeeper on several occasions.
Despite the strong effort, the Toros couldn't find the equalizer late and move to 4-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 in CCAA play. CSUDH will look to regroup as it returns home to Toro Stadium next week to close out its conference slate.
