SAN FRANCISCO -- On the eve of playing in the biggest game of her career, senior Dawnyel Lair was named a 1st-team All-Region selection by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association, it was announced today.

With her 1st-team selection, Lair now is eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced March 19.

Lair did it all on both ends of the floor for the Toro machine, placing amongst the top producers in the CCAA.  She led the league in rebounds per game, FG%, and steals, finished 2nd in assists, and 4th in points per game.  Additionally, she placed 7th in assist/turnover ratio and 12th in FT% and blocks, illustrating her all-around game.  She scored in double-figures in 21 of 24 games and ranks 6th in the NCAA in FG% and also came up with stellar efforts when they counted most.  This included finishing an assist shy of a triple-double against No. 14 Alaska Anchorage and scoring 24 points against No. 18 CS San Marcos, ending the game with a crucial block.

On her squad, she led the Toros in points, PPG, rebounds, RPG assists, steals, and blocks, while earning four CCAA Player of the Week nods and one D2SIDA Player of the Week honor.

Lair and her top-seeded Toros face No. 8 seed Cal Poly Pomona in the final quarterfinal game tomorrow night, scheduled for a 7:30 pm start in the Torodome.

This is the first time in program history that CSUDH has hosted the NCAA West Regional, and all games can be seen for free on the CCAA Network.
