HAYWARD – Despite a spirited performance, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros couldn't overcome the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, suffering a 4-1 defeat.
The Pioneers set the pace with two unmatched goals in the first half. The Toros found the back of the net in the second half when
Alyssa Villalobos netted one in the 64th minute, aided by an assist from
Fatima Arnold. But their efforts were met with resistance, as CSUEB secured their win with two more goals, 4-1.
The Toros' attack was led by
Lauryn Bailey and
Angelica Taylor, both of whom registered two shots on goal.
Cynthia Ramirez also contributed with two shots, one of which was on target. The lone goal scorer,
Alyssa Villalobos, made her presence known throughout the entirety of the match, proving to be a pivotal player in the Toros' front line.
On the defensive end,
Abigail Escalante stood firm in goal for the majority of the match, tallying three saves in her 80 minutes.
Kylie Yuzon also saw time in the net, contributing a save in her brief nine-minute appearance.
The Toros travel to Cal State San Bernardino where they will face the Yotes with a 12:30pm kickoff time on Thursday, October 12
th.
