DUPONT, Wash. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's golf team saw three individuals turn in excellent results on day two of Saint Martin's Bishop Invitational to break the program's lowest 18-hole score for the second time in the calendar year.
The Toros wrap up their visit at the 6,986-yard, par-72 The Home Course on an extremely rare Saturday with a team score of 579, leaping them up two spots to fourth place.
Playing a round on an extremely rare Saturday afternoon, the Toros saw
Patrick Ordonez,
Andy Yoon and
Francis Bautista score a 2-under 70.
Despite a bogie in the first hole, Ordonez excelled the rest of the way, making eight straight pars in the remainder of the front-9. In the back-9, he made three birdies and came up even in six different holes.
Yoon, meanwhile, had a double bogie in the seventh hole but made up ground immediately after with an eagle on a par-5. He finished the rest of the way with one birdie and seven pars.
Bautista cruised through the back-9 with ease, making birdie in the 10
th and 17
th holes.
Andres Navarro had three birdies and 11 pars to score a 73 to finish fourth best on the team.
Joseph Sotello started off strong in the front-9, making par in the first eight holes. Although he had hiccups in the 10
th and 15
th holes, he came up even in the rest to score a 2-over 75.
Competing as individuals,
Jesse Peh scored a 75, highlighted with an eagle in the par-5 eight hole.
David Cho rounded out the rest of the Toros with a 4-over 76.
Dominguez Hills will have a day off to travel across the state to Bellingham to play in Western Washington's Invitational held at the 6,610-yard, par-72 Bellingham Golf & Country Club. The first round begins Monday.
