Ordonez Ties 37-Year-Old Program Record in Season Debut at Foxtail Golf Club

ROHNERT PARK – For 37 years, Pat Burke stood alone with the distinction of having scored the lowest single-round score in the long history of Cal State Dominguez Hills men's golf.

He now has company.

Patrick Ordonez made his second trip through the 6,851-yard, par-72 Foxtail Golf Club a memorable one as he scored a 7-under 65 to tie Burke's program record to highlight the Toros' 2022-23 season opener at Sonoma State's NCAA West Regional Fall Preview Monday.

Ordonez was perfect on the front-9, carding a 4-under 32 and despite a hiccup in the 11th hole, the sophomore made four birdies and pars each to score a 3-under 33. The run in the second round lifted Ordonez into a tie for fifth place in the 67-player field.

The Toros, with a team score of 583 after two rounds, currently sit eighth with one more to play Tuesday.

Andy Yoon had the most consistent performance out of the five-man Toro lineup. He scored a 74 in the first round and then a 73 in the second to total his card at 147, putting him in a tie for eighth.

Newcomer Joseph Sotelo carded a 151 while Jesse Peh finished one shot behind him. Andres Navarro rebounded from an 81 he scored in the first round by turning in an even 72 in the second.

Western New Mexico leads the 11-team field with a 13-under 563.
