WAHIAWA, Hawaii – As that saying goes: 'tomorrow is a new day.'
 
That was applied Wednesday when Cal State Dominguez Hills' men's golf team made a second visit to the 7,019-yard, par-72 Leilehua Golf Course for Hawai'i Pacific's Southwest Airlines Shark Shootout. After scoring an 8-over 296 in the first round on Monday, the Toros rebounded and scored a 13-under 275 to break the program's 18-hole record for the second time this season.
 
The 43^rd-ranked Toros ended the tournament finishing with a 5-under 571, good enough for them to tie for sixth out of 16 total teams.
 
Dominguez Hills breaks the program's 18-hole record for the second time in three tournaments played. They scored a 283 in the second round of the Bishop Invitational.
 
Four Toros finished under par with three of them scoring a 69 or better. Patrick Ordonez scored a 5-under 67 that had him finish in a tie for 16^th in the tournament with a 5-under 141. He was near perfect on the course, scoring seven birdies and making par in nine different holes.
 
Andres Navarro finished above Ordonez in the tournament by one stroke. He scored a 3-under 69, highlighted with six birdies and nine pars.
 
Francis Bautista also had a stellar day on the course, scoring a 4-under 68. Besides a bogie in the 13^th hole, the freshman was perfect or better in 17 different holes, making five birdies and 12 pars.
 
Joseph Sotelo carded a 1-under 71. He was perfect in the front-9 with two birdies while in the back-9 he only bogied the 14^th hole.
 
Andy Yoon rounds out the Toros with a 2-over 74. He made four birdies and came up par eight times.
 
It was a good day for the CCAA, for all 10 members finished in the top 10. No. 40 Chico State took the tournament trophy by beating No. 30 Stanislaus State in a playoff hole. The two teams scored an 18-under 558 in the tournament.
 
No. 49 Cal State San Marcos finished in fourth, No. 23 Cal State East Bay made the biggest leap – nine spots – to place fourth, No. 9 Sonoma State finished in the tie for sixth with Dominguez Hills, No. 13 Cal State Monterey Bay placed ninth and No. 26 Cal State San Bernardino finished 10^th to round out the conference's representation in the tournament.
 
All schools will fly over to the Island of Hawaii for the Dennis Rose Invitational in Hilo beginning Friday.
